Mary Jane - Wonder reflection

Today the senious of Tamaki primary / Room 7 to 10 went to watch a movie to watch a new movie that just came out, That movie is Wonder the movie wonder is about a boy with a wonder because of his rare difromatie that has affected his face.
This difromatie is called treacher collins syndrome and it affects someones face and in this case it has affected a little boy named August, This movie was very cool and had a lot of good things to tell adults and also young children as well because it tells people to acept people for who they are and a qaote that I really liked was if you ever have the choice of being right and being kind always chose kind.

Mary Jane - Mauri ( Sense of belonging )

This Morning my class room 10 and room 9 did a small task that inculding drawing and and Mauri but some students weren't here but it was fun because it was really quiet and I did a lot of work and things like that, In this task we had to draw things that represented us and our Mauri which if some of you didn't know Mauri means a sense of belonging so we had to draw something that mean't to us and what made us feel like we belong and we used symbols and drawing to do that.

The first thing I drawed was a symbol that contected together and I used this to represent family and friends because no matter how many times we fight and yell at each other we always seem to get back together just like the symbol, Another reason why I chose this symbol is because it means that again no matter what we do to each other and how angry we get we always get back to being friends and becoming as one just like the symbol.

The second symbol I did was a moon and a star to represent home because when I have family I have a home and also because we always spend time together as a family and things like that and also because we spend night and day together so thats why I did that symbol and things like that but the main reason is because the moon and the stars are like your home because no matter what it always follows you and our ancestors well my ansectors used the moon and the stars to find their which is another reason why I did this symbol.

The second to last one or the thrid one is a flower this flower symbol represents love because I think love blooms just like a flower sometimes when flowers bloom they dont last long and weren't ready to bloom just like love but some flowers bloom and last for a very long time despite having troubles like no rain no sun and that like some relesionships they last long even though they face challenges that is why I chose the flower symbol.

The last one is a Cook Island flag which shows my Cook Island flag this is only a small amount of my cultures which is why I have only done one and the reason is because the past year I got to learn more about my Cook Island side and things like that so thats why I have chosen this as a symbol.

Mary Jane - Te Tuhi Leasson 2

Today my class went on a little free trip to Te tuhi which is in pakurange, If you didn't know Te tuhi is a free art gallery where you can do lots of things and most of them well all of them are really fun to do the thing I like about when I go to Te Tuhi is that its a chance for us to go out of class and do something well things that we dont always get to do in class and things like that. Another reason why I love going here is free because you can go out with your family and look at all the different things they have created and some of those things are AMAZING, Like the other times we went there and also today we saw these elders painting and their paintings were AMAZING like they could be sold for lots and lots of money good!
Tolday we learnt about Turangawaewae which if some of you didn't know it means a place to stand and things like that it also means to have the rights to stand in a place or somewhere and to me its kind of like having a place or area that you can call home and if you want to see of hear more click on the slide to find out the other things we did!

Mary Jane - Mutorere Indigenous New Zealand game

Today we learnt how to play an indigenous game of New Zealand called mutorere.
It is a brain game that makes you strategize and use logic to outwit your opponent.

Here are some photos to show what the game and things like that kind of look like.

To play this game you will need to have some lego blocks you only need four make sure there the same color so you dont get confused and you will need the right sheet which you can find on google images by writing in Mutorere, There arent really any rules because its a basic game the only thing you have to do is if you wont you can bring in an old game and play rock, paper, sizzors to see who gos first. After getting that done you want always start from the side if you start first if your not kind of understanding I will add in a video ( LINK TO VIDEO )  again if you dont understand watch the video.

My personal reflection is that this is an amazing game and very easy the things you need are also really easy to get as well, I wasnt the best at this game but I still thought that it was really fun even though I lost to all my friends and class mates because there pros and congrats to Kanye for winning and beating everyone and also lovey for coming second. I had a really fun day but the biggest thank you to Miss Kyla ( My teacher ) for teaching everyone the game and showing us some videos, Hope you enjoy!

Heres some more photos and videos of us play Mutorere and also a photo of what the sheet looks like again thank you for reading.

Mary Jane - Cure kids and Kelly sport

Today Room 10 paticpated in a kelly sport event to support cure kids, Cure kids is a child center and charerdey that help kids with cancer, Asthema, still birth and much much more and supporting them means that kids around New Zealand get treated and get help from your donations which is an amazing thing if you think about it because your helping kids that really need it and an example of ways they support children health is on there site they have many many acomplicments where it shows all there brack throughs they have had and things like that.
The effect of there work and research is that children are getting treated and they are getting the help that is needed but also donating help get samples and it also helps them get more brack throughs which is amazing because again your helping small kids that really need your help.

I participated in this event by donating and playing the games that kelly sport and cure kids have given us and I thought that these games where really fun but the one I liked the most what capture the flag because everyone was working as a team even if they werent in their team and it was nice to see even though I saw a few people cheat it was really fun.
The reason why I wanted to paticpated in this event is because its a really nice thing to do espiecally knowing that you could make someones day like you could just help a kid/child get their medicine and things like that but its not just that your helping New Zealand and others healthy again which is something really cool and im sure in you donate then it would make you feel amazing.
I like supporting cure kids today because we got to do something fun and we got to wear muffity like come on who doesnt want to wear muffity at school and play sports and also because everyone played fair which is cool.

Mary Jane - Qualities - Careers T3W6

Today the year 7 and 8's of Tamaki Primary did one of their usal programs called careers, This is done by one of the teachers from Tamaki Primary, The Teacher talks to the year 7 and 8's and teachs them about what different careers there are and the difference about them also she helps us learn more about our selves and also help us and others to learn more about each other, I like this program because I learn more about myself and others.

I think other schools should do this program because people and others can learn about  them selves which is good because some people dont know who they are yet and doing this may make them feel comfrontable and make them feel like they know themselves.

Mary Jane - Dare: Session 3 Relfection task T3W5

Today My class room 10 was doing a reflection on a program called the dare program its a program to educate kids about drugs and achool, I also think that this is a great task or program because it talks about what drugs and achool and that means it would stop young people like us to do stupid things with the drugs or achool, I really do think that this is a great fun and educational program that I really enjoy.

I think that we should keep learning about this because people our age are slowly getting into drugs and achool and think that its cool and fun but its really bad and dangerous so you shouldnt do drugs and achool when your very young and you shouldnt misuse drugs and achool too.
Hope you enjoy my blog post.

Mary Jane - The 7 stars of Matariki T2W9

Today room 10 did another Matariki goal setting but it was much more different because it involed the different Matariki stars if you dont know the stars you will find out in this slide and it will also show how I will embody this goal and this star, I thought that this task was really fun because you can change your goals and it doesnt really about learninh and it can really mean about what you want to work on.
When I first saw this task I thought that this is a normal goal setting but again I was surprised to see how much different it was to a normal goal setting slide because your goals could be related to almost anything which is amazing for me, When my friend saw this she thought the same so we talked about kind of what we would do with this slide and we found a way to make it work we made sure that it was involed with school and outside of school.
Hope you enjoy my slide show and also my blog post.

Mary Jane - Matariki Celebrations T2W8

Yesterday room 10 did a slide about the different things you can do for Matariki and the different things tamaki primary and my class can celebrate Matariki,
I thought that this task was fun because we got to find the task and the teacher gave us a site to see the different things that we could go to and that we could go to as a school or even just with your family which is really cool and the amazing thing about the site is that it tells you the cost where it is and when it is which most sites dont do if you want to learn more about the things you can do at Matariki than have a look in the slides and if you want the link it will be down at the body of the post.
Hope you enjoy my blog post!!

Mary Jane - Taku rakau whainga / My goal setting tree T2W8

Yesterday my class room 10 started on a slide where we have to set goals for after the maori new year,
I thought that this was a fun task because we got to learn more about the different goals that we actually wanted to do I didnt relize that the slide would be like this I thought it was the normal goal setting slide but it wasnt it was a lot more funner and a lot more personal for the students and I think that this is a lot better than the old ones.
If you want to see my personal goals then have look and if you also want to see my school goals then flick through the slides to see what they are and there is a slide asking about the year and if you want to see what happened then have a look at the slide.
I hope you enjoyed my blog post!!

Mary Jane - Food Technology

Today in food tech we learned how to make a pasta salad and here are the ingredients and the method we learned,
Ingredients -
Pasta / We used macorone pasta
Tamato
Onioun
Mayo
Ham / Bacon

Method -
The first thing you want to do is take your pasta out of the bag and put around 3 cups of water into a pot, after adding your 3 cups of water you want to place your pot on the top of the stove. Again after finishing that you can place your pasta into the pot, wait for the pasta and water to start boiling and make sure you stir it so it doesnt get stuck to the pot and if you dont know how to cook pasta than get a fork or spoon get the pasta out and run under cold water, after you have done that touch it and see if its soft if it is its finished.
After doing that you want to cut your other ingredients into small pieces and than add your pasta to those ingredients

Matariki stars for maths - Mary Jane

Today room10 my class got to do some maths about matariki we got taught the shape of matarki and how if never changes the only thing is that it rotates this is my photos of a hook showing even if it is rotated it still is the same thing,
The first one which is the left one if a 360 degree angle of the matariki and the second one is a 90 degree angle but if you didnt know the thrid is 180 degrees and the last one is 270 and than it goes back to 360 degrees again,
I learnt a lot about matariki and degrees not only that I also learnt that they dont flip and they only rotate.
Hope you enjoy my small little blog post!!

Mary Jane - Ko Te Whakatauki o te wiki - T2W8

Today in room 10 we did a really fun task called Whakatauki o te wiki which is a task we do every week I think that this is a really good task to practice your Te reo maori and to get other peoples view on things or on this quote, I also want to say that if you are new at speaking a new launge or in the process of learning a new launge this would be a great task because again you see your classes or your friends point of view on things.
Room 10 my class does this every week and this helps with our Te reo maori and other launges to so if you are learning a new launge this task will be great if you dont get this task it means a qoute in a different launage and you can excpress yourself and others with this task which is amazing.
Hope you enjoy my blog post.

First you want to get 2 eggs and 1 cup of milk when you have finsihed grabbing these you need to whisk the two together until mixed well after you have finished whisking you egg and milk you want to add your ham or bacan, Make sure they are chopped into small pieces when you have also finished cutting your ham or bacon you want to add that to you egg and milk mixture if you havent noticed we are doing the wet things first.
Once you have completed this you are going to cut your pastery into small circles and if you do not have enough than with the left over dough you can cut it into as much more as you need and than roll it out.
When you have finished cutting your dough place it into your muffin tray or and circled tray you have if you and make sure you like it with something that makes it not stick and if you want you can make a big one, With your egg mixture you want to poor it into a cup make sure none of the ham or bacon gets into it because you want to add that mixture last.
When you are done than you can add your ham and chese ohh and wait dont put it into the oven yet add your egg and milk mixture and than put it into the oven at 180 and than wait until it get nice and brown but not too brown, When its finished dig in and eat it.

I loved making this because it was fun and very cool to make and I also think I did this really good but one thing I do need to work on is finding the equipments becauses I always have to go searching for it I also think I did it good because I tried and tried and it worked but again I do need to work on a few things like finding things and watching things because sometimes my groups stuff burns because I dont check on it all the time but it is getting better because I am watching it more and I am also working on that because I dont want to get in trouble or make my group made by burning it but like I said it is getting a lot better and I enjoy the challenge of making things.
Hope you enjoy blog post.

I do think that sometimes I do get different foods and things like that but I also think sometimes I need to eat something a little healthy like a salad so tommorow.

Today at Tamaki primary school the year 7 and 8s went to technology,
I am in graphics and we are learning how to use a new site named TinkerCard this is very fun because we learn how to make 3D shapes.
I learned more and did more with this site because it was instresting and it taught us how to do different things with the site and if you dont know what to do it gives you different leasons to help you with it teachs you how to shape and things like that, My teacher for graphics Miss Fergason helped us learn more with TinkerCard like how to group things/lining them together and how to make them tranceperant which was fun because I learned more about this site and it could be handy for other things.
We also leanred a lot today and with the site you really had to listen because some of the timgs where tricky to do and I also liked this because we got to help each other when other people got stuck and didnt know what to do which was fun.

Here are some photos of the site TinkerCard and some photos of my work,
