Earthquake DLO - Mary Jane

Yesterday in Room 8 we did some research on Earthquakes, I found out some cool things like did you know because of an earthquake the himalayas where found and made :O,

I also really liked this because it was and cool because I liked the research that you got to do and because I learnt new things like that there are things like tectonic plates and how they make earthquakes.

Reflection on EOTC - Mary Jane

Today in Room 8 we did a reflection on EOTC week, we did fun things like Bowling, Lazer strike, Mini Golf, water fight, Movies at Monterey Howick, and Today reflections and team building, 

I reflected on How did I find EOTC, What was my highlight and How did I show the key competencies, the key competencies are Managing self and relating to other. 

Movies in Howick - EOTC - Mary Jane

Today at EOTC we went to the movies in Howick Monterey, I really liked watching secret life of pets because it was funny and cool and we got to learn what our pets really do when were not here and, I learnt from this trip that it was fun and cool and it's fun sitting next to people we didn't know from other classes.

Yesterday at Tamaki Primary school we had a fun and Amazing day at Tamaki Primary because we had a fun day having water fights. 

I had very good day but I had to leave early but I thought it was fun and cool because we wet the teachers and each other I learnt that its fun to work with others and fun that we play together.

Mini Golf - EOTC - Mary Jane

Today at Tamaki primary in the senior syndicate we a fun active for EOTC week, we went to Orakei Mini Golf this was a new experience for me and others too. I have heard of Mini golf but never tried it and I never thought it would be as hard as it was, When we were at Mini golf we learned how to play. I also learnt for this trip that golf is harder than it looks and I still don't understand how Lydia KO and Tiger woods keep getting gold, I thought this game was interesting and you need to have very good concentration and skill to get it in very easily.

EOTC Monday - Mary Jane

Today at Tamaki Primary School we did something called EOTC also known as Education outside of class, Some people from room 9 and 10 came because they were not able to go to camp, The classes that went where room 6, 7, 8 and of course a little bit of room 9 and 10.

For our 1st EOTC section we went to panmure AMF bowling and then we went to laser strike.

Bridge to Terabithia, Book review, Mary Jane

Today in Room 8 we did a reflection about the book we have been reading, The book we are reading about is Bridge to terabithia, I liked this book because it is funny cool and interesting. 

I also Like this book because it is a book that helps you learn rules and it also tells you how to be kinder, I also like this book because it is funny and very imaginative.

Story Cubes Writing - Mary Jane

Images I need to use for this story - Tower, Flower and Key.
 One day a man named Jake thought of building a very high building, a few years past and his building was finished, He called it the long line tower, The long line tower was one of the world's biggest building. One day Jake went to go ask a builder to build him a custom made door, the door took for weeks because jake wanted it to be the best door anybody had ever seen. After the door was made Jake went to get his key measurements, the man the was measuring gave him the measurements and Jake walked down to the key maker and gave the man his key measurements. A few days went by and Jake went back to the key maker and picked up his keys for the long line tower, Jake was so happy he could get his tower more upgrades and make his tower better, Jake was over joyed seeing his key, he put the key in the keyhole and opened up his tower, it had all the gib wood in it. About a 6 months later all the towers walls were painted and they looked amazing, a quarter of the tower was a hotel some was a restaurant, some of the tower was a arcade for kids and adults, Jake thought of making the back and front of the building a garden for crops and plants so Jake got a great gardener and the gardener made plan grass into a beautiful garden with crops and flowers, Jakes Long line tower was getting popular and popular. About 7 months later Jake's long line tower was one of the best towers in the world, Jakes gardener came back to plant some more flower and crops, a few days later Jake got told he was now able to see his garden the gardener took him outside, Jake was as bouncy as a kangaroo Jake looked around and then he saw a big bunch of purple hibiscus flowers, Jake loved them because they where big bright and beautiful, and his tower stayed there for a long time.

Persuasive writing - Be Firewise - Mary Jane

For me being firewise means you can save yourself and family, and you can prevent people getting hurt, Being firewise means you can save yourself or someone else in a fire.

Being firewise means you can be safe around fire even when cooking, using a fireplace or evening burning rubbish.

You should be firewise because it’s important fires can start from almost anything like cigarettes, food that's not being watched and leaving candles on a edge where they could fall off.

What is Blog commenting?
Blog commenting is when you have to write on a friends blog or a buddy class blog.
Blog commenting for me is fun because I get to see how my friend in other classes are doing, I also like blog commenting because its a fun to do in learning and it remind me to  always double read before publishing something.

This term we are learning about safety, last weeks safety was on animals, we meet people named bark.
They work with animals and teach kids about dog safety, when we arrived in the hall we saw a very cute dog on the stage and we learned how to be safe around them

Today in Room 8 we did a recount on our holidays, this is my holiday story, My holiday for me was okay but I didn't really go out that much, I still thought that my holiday was fun because my sister moved into a new house and I helped her pack and I also looked after her little daughter and the best part is I spent time with my family.

Arts and Crafts - Mary Jane Eye of god

On Wednesday in crafts I learnt how do the eye of god or also known as captain America shield, I don't have a photo of what they really look like but this is a proper one that has been done, if you want to look at more write in images eye of god crafts it will show up with beautiful and bright colours or dark gloomy colours you can even write it in youtube and see the amazing skill it takes to make the eye of gd crafts, you end result though will look amazing.

What did mine look like - My eye of god didn't look so well because it was my first time every making one but now I have the hang of it and I think i'm getting better, remember they look easy but there not easy at all.

How to make eye of gods - 

1 you need 3 Iceblock sticks 

2 you need different coloured wool

3 you need to get a Ice block stick doesnt matter which one and then not the wool to the Ice block sticks,

4 put all 3 iceblock sticks together do not glue them just but them on top and make a star shape

5  bined the string together and than start to web them, at first it will seem a bit wobbly or  unstable but when you reach your 3rd web you will feel it stop shaking and than you continue to web and you will get your end result and if you want to change the colours tie a another piece of wool to the end and not it twice. and you will get a beautiful coloured eye of god

Information about the Maori New year / matariki - Mary jane

Today in Room 8 we did research from books and internet/ Google,
I learnt a lot more than I thought I would, did you know Matariki is a the name of one of the stars but not just the stars it has been said that Matariki is the mother and the other six stars are her daughters, the daughters names are Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, Waiti, Waita, Waipuna-a-rangi and Ururangi.
What is Matariki - Matariki is the Maori name for the group of stars also known as the Pleiades star cluster or The Seven Sisters; and what is referred to as the traditional Maori New Year.

Who celebrates Matariki - Anybody can celebrate matariki Maori or not as long as you believe that's fine, 

How do some people celebrate - Some people celebrate by going to festivals or letting off fireworks and having a feast with family.

Today in Room 8 we did a book review about a book named Crinkum Crankum, Look at the bottem for more information hope you like it.

I would give this book to my niece because she loves reading books and she loves books like Crinkum Crankum. Who were the main characters in this book? I think this book is fun to listen to and read but I think they tried making the theme scary because it has witches and everything in it. What was your favourite part of the book? Information about Matariki - Mary Jane

WALT - We are learning about Matariki.

Today in Room 8 we where learning about Matariki,

Today I learned a lot more than I did when last year. I like Matariki because the stars are beautiful and they shine brighter than all the others and they shine like the sun in the darkness and they are very amazing.

Crafts 1st of June 2016 Scooby's - Mary Jane

Today In Room 8 crafts we did something called Scooby,

Scooby's are a fun thing to do you can make them into bracelets, key rings and rings,

I think Scooby's are very cool and fun to make but they are very hard at the same time these just this small one has taken me 3 days to finish.

At the start I didn't really know how to do them, but my teacher and the one that is teaching this class helped me, she showed all of us how to do the not and then the first not which was the hardest thing about these Scooby's, I had to watch the teacher for a while and it took half the time of the lesson before I got it, the people that I were mostly working with where Cerenity and Caroline we all had a bit of trouble at the start and that Cerenity got it and than me, Caroline got the hang of it today and it was fun doing this with them because they helped me and I helped them.

I now am getting the hang of it but I just need the teacher sometimes and it is never bad to ask for help sometimes, I have 2 Scooby's and here they are but only 1 is done though, hope you like them they are going to be on sale, please come down and have a look at them there are gonna be bath bombs and battin art come down and have a look.
